6 Step Process for Career FIT

Career Readiness

Be a Mentor!

The MentorTown Coach (MC) agrees to provide an average of one hour per week (or 40 hours over 10 months) ONLINE to help students prepare for workforce and career life.

Over the years, The National Institute for Career Development has trained over a thousand mentors and coaches in the states of Missouri, Nebraska and North Carolina.

The one-hour MC training session, the WALK (Wholistic Advising for Life Key), explains the ‘best practices’ 6-step, 45 year old Career Development Process the Institute has used to prepare thousands of students for work and career life.

“The WALK (Wholistic Advising for Life Key) changes the advisor’s role from that of a giver of technical information to that of a genuine consultant. It shows us how to ask the appropriate academic, vocational and personal questions. But the responsibility for addressing these questions still lies where it belongs – with the student. WALK mentors are consultants – the students must take the WALK.”

Once you are selected, you will receive an application, training packet and will be invited to participate in a  Zoom training consultation.
